Near East Tourism and Travel Enterprises (YDTSI), which operates under the Near East University (NEU), recently participated in the “ITB Berlin Fair”, which was established in Germany Messe Berlin on a huge area of 150 thousand square meters and attended by 23 countries.
According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of Near East University, YDTSI Director Ahmet Savaşan, who introduced the opportunities of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) in the fields of Education, Congress, Incentive, Sports and Special Interest Tourism at the fair, held various meetings in order to present the TRNC as an alternative market to the German market, which has been neglected for years.
Savaşan stated that the German market is very important; “ITB Berlin Fair creates an atmosphere where professionals come together and keep the pulse of the season and closely follow the developments, people from all civilizations and races with different languages and religions have the opportunity to meet their colleagues and establish new connections in this fair where the products and services in the sectors are exhibited collectively, and they also have the opportunity to meet face to face with the people they cooperate with” and stated that participation in the fair will provide great benefits for our country. In addition, Savaşan said that many officials from the TRNC Ministry of Tourism, KTHY, Cyprus Turkish Tourism and Travel Agencies Association, Cyprus Hoteliers Association and Near East University took part in the Northern Cyprus stand and that they made important contacts for the promotion of Northern Cyprus and the development of tourism. Ahmet Savaşan, who is also the Secretary General of KITSAB, gave the good news that the Germany 2005 Summer Season 2005 Summer Incentive Protocols, which are of great importance for Turkish Cypriot Tourism, were signed between the TRNC Ministry of Economy and Tourism, KTHY and KITSAB. Finally, Ahmet Savaşan said that tourism in the TRNC has developed visibly in recent years and will continue to develop in the future, and that while determining the tourism policy, those working in the tourism sector and the subsidiary organizations supported by the sector will be happy by getting the reward for their efforts, He emphasized that tourism can really become the locomotive of the country's economy as a result of planning based on sustainable foundations that do not disrupt the social and cultural structure and taking into account the environmental factor, and in this context, if we give importance to areas such as Education, Congress, Incentive, Sports and Special Interest Tourism, Fair Organization, it is a great need to focus on promotional activities on the right issues day by day.
